Long Island speed dating is one of the best ways to meet singles without swiping through endless profiles. You show up, have a bunch of quick face-to-face conversations, and walk away knowing exactly who you clicked with. No awkward texting phase, no catfishing — just real chemistry (or not) in real time.
And Long Island? It’s honestly a great place for it. There’s a solid mix of young professionals, recently single folks, and people who are just tired of the apps. Whether you live in Nassau or Suffolk County, there’s a DateFaster event within driving distance.
Where We Host Speed Dating on Long Island
We run Long Island speed dating events in four towns across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Each venue is hand-picked — we look for spots with good vibes, easy parking, and a bar that makes a decent cocktail.
Garden City
Garden City is a classic Nassau County spot with a walkable downtown and plenty of restaurants and bars. Our Garden City speed dating events draw a crowd of young professionals from across the Hempstead area. After the event, most people stick around for drinks — the town has great nightlife for a post-event hangout. We also run a Garden City singles mixer if you prefer a more casual format.
Smithtown
Smithtown is the go-to for Suffolk County singles who don’t want to trek all the way west. It’s got a laid-back suburban feel with some surprisingly good bars and restaurants along Main Street. Our Smithtown speed dating events are popular with locals from Hauppauge, Commack, and Kings Park. We also host a Smithtown singles mixer for those who want something lower-key.
Patchogue
Patchogue has turned into one of Long Island’s coolest downtown areas. Great restaurants, live music venues, and a fun bar scene make it perfect for a night out — and for speed dating. Our Patchogue speed dating events pull singles from all over central and eastern Suffolk County. It’s easily one of our liveliest crowds.
Rockville Centre
Rockville Centre (or “RVC” if you’re local) is a south shore gem. The downtown strip is packed with restaurants and bars, and it’s a quick LIRR ride from the city. Our Rockville Centre singles mixer brings out a fun crowd of south shore singles who are ready to mingle.
What to Expect at a DateFaster Speed Dating Event
If you’ve never been to a speed dating event, here’s the rundown. You check in, grab a drink (usually included in the ticket price), and have a series of 4-5 minute one-on-one conversations with other attendees. After the event, your matches are automatically sent to you through the DateFaster app — no paper scorecards needed.
After the event, the DateFaster app handles everything. If you both liked each other, you’ll get a match notification and can start chatting right away.
Most of our Long Island speed dating events are organized by age group — typically 24-39, though we run other age ranges too. Each event has roughly equal numbers of men and women, usually 15-20 of each. The whole thing takes about 90 minutes, and it goes by fast.
The vibe is relaxed and fun. Nobody’s standing at a podium giving a presentation — it’s just a room full of single people having short conversations over drinks. Think of it as a night out with built-in icebreakers.
Speed Dating vs Singles Mixers — What’s the Difference?
We run two types of events: speed dating and singles mixers. They’re both great, but they work differently.
Speed dating is structured. You sit down with each person for a set amount of time, then rotate. Everyone meets everyone. You get matches afterward based on mutual interest. It’s efficient and takes the guesswork out of approaching someone.
Singles mixers are more like a social party. There’s no rotation or scoring — just a room full of verified singles, usually with some icebreaker games or activities mixed in. It’s a great option if you prefer a more organic, less structured way to meet people.
Honestly, a lot of our regulars do both. Speed dating for the guaranteed face time, mixers for the social atmosphere. Check out our mixer events if that sounds more your speed.
Tips for Your First Speed Dating Event
Going to your first event? Here are some things that’ll help:
1. Show up on time. Seriously. We start the rotations promptly, and if you’re late you miss rounds. Aim to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can grab a drink and settle in.
2. Keep it light. You have 4-5 minutes per person. This isn’t the time to unpack your life story or grill someone about their five-year plan. Ask fun questions. What do you do for fun? Been anywhere cool lately? What’s the best restaurant on Long Island?
3. Don’t overthink your outfit. Dress like you’re going to a nice bar on a Friday night. You want to look good, but you also want to be comfortable. If you’re fidgeting in an outfit you never wear, it’ll show.
4. Charge your phone. Matches are delivered through the DateFaster app after the event, so make sure your phone has some juice. You’ll want to check your results on the ride home.
5. Say yes more than you think you should. Chemistry in a 5-minute conversation doesn’t always predict chemistry on a real date. If someone was friendly and you had a decent conversation, mark them as a yes. You can always decide later whether to follow up.
How to Get Tickets
All our Long Island speed dating events are listed on datefaster.com. You can browse by city, age group, or event type. Tickets typically run $30-$45 depending on the event, and we offer early bird pricing if you book a week or more in advance.
Events do sell out — we cap attendance to keep the experience good — so don’t wait too long. Grab your ticket, mark your calendar, and show up ready to have a good time.
FAQ
How many people will be at the event?
We typically have 15-20 men and 15-20 women at each speed dating event. We keep groups balanced so everyone gets plenty of face time.
What age groups do you offer?
Most of our Long Island events are for ages 24-39, but we run events for other age ranges too. Check the event listing for specifics.
What if I don’t get any matches?
It happens sometimes, and it’s totally fine. We offer a free ticket to your next event if you don’t get at least one match. No questions asked.
Can I come with friends?
Absolutely. A lot of people bring a friend for moral support. Just make sure you both have tickets. And try not to sit next to each other — you’re here to meet new people, not hang with your buddy.
